You can then use your Netflix or Amazon Prime account to stream movies by choosing either as your source and logging in, or stream live TV by selecting ’Roku Channel’ as your source.

Trash/Recycling

The gray bin is for trash. The green recycling bin is next to the trash. The recycling bins take all recyclables except glass. Glass can go in the trash bin.
Trash is picked up at the end of the driveway on Wednesdays, recycling is picked up at the end of the driveway every other Wednesday. Please set out both bins on the road by the mailbox on Tuesday evening and return them on Wednesday evening.

Safety

  • First aid- The first aid kit is located in the laundry room.
  • Flashlight- Flashlights are available in the laundry room.
  • Fuse Box- The fuse box is located in the garage.
  • Utility Closet- The water shut off is in the utility closet in the garage.

  • Fire

There are smoke/CO detectors in all bedrooms and common areas. A fire extinguisher can be found on the wall in the laundry room and on the back deck.

Climate Control

The house is equipped with in-floor radiant heat as well as Mini Split A/C's. The radiant heat thermostats are located on the wall in the living room, the wall of the master bedroom, and the wall of the hallway. The remote controls for the A/C's are mounted on the wall. Just use the remote to turn on the mini split, set the mode to 'Cool' and set your desired temperature.
Since Santa Fe is a high desert climate many of our guests (along with us!) opt to leave the windows open-- especially at night when the temperature drops deliciously. Whichever option you choose: please do not run the A.C./Heat with the windows open.

Other Notes

  • The outdoor electric grill can be used all year. Please do not burn wood or other foreign materials, and never leave it unattended.
  • The outdoor fire pit can be used all year. Please be sure to turn the gas tank off after you are done for the evening, do not burn wood or other foreign materials, and never leave it unattended.

Fireplace

The living room fireplace will be turned off from May15-Oct 15. If you decide to build a fire outside of that time, please use the metal bucket outside of the house for the ash when you are done. (it is outside the back door near the deck). Don’t forget to open the flue! (Reach in and up into the fireplace, grab the metal lever, pull towards you for open, push back for closed)

To build a fire in the fireplace please follow these steps:

  1. Make sure the chimney flue draft is opened, so you can get some airflow up the chimney (and not out into the room).
  2. Gather your tinder/kindling materials and make a loose pile in the very back of the fireplace.
  3. Stack your wood around the kindling in a teepee shape. Don’t put too much in because you want air flowing under and around the sticks, so they’ll ignite and stay lit.
  4. Light the kindling, and (if needed) blow on the fire gently. Then slightly open a window, or otherwise to ensure you have fresh air coming into the room to replace what the fire is using up.
  5. Tend it by adding more wood as the existing sticks collapse.
  6. Never leave an open fire unattended.
